Council member Walker B. Moffitt began serving the City of Asheboro as a member of the Board of Adjustments and Planning Board.  He was first elected to City Council in 2005 and currently serves on the Public Works Committee and as the Council Liaison for the Community Watch Program.

A life-long resident of Asheboro, Moffitt is an active member of the Central United Methodist Church, the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce, the NC Rural Water Association, the NC Water Treatment Plant Operators Association and NC General Contractors.  He is also an FAA Private Pilot.

“I love the opportunities presented by Asheboro’s central location, small town atmosphere and genuinely good people,” said Moffitt.  “We are well poised to be successful in the future.”

Seeing Asheboro become a central destination in North Carolina for work and play is one of Moffitt’s key goals for Asheboro.  He hopes to see Asheboro broaden its horizons for growth in business, culture and tourism while continuing to nurture traditional manufacturing in order to remain a viable city in the future.
