Charles Swiers was elected to City Council in November 2011 after serving on the Asheboro Planning Board for 13 years. He has been an active member of Central United Methodist Church, a member of the Executive Committee/Board of Directors for the Randolph-Asheboro YMCA, a Communities in Schools volunteer and mentor, a Breakfast Buddy at McCrary Elementary School and a member of the Randolph Rotary Club.
Swiers hopes to reinforce the attitude that Asheboro is a community that supports its citizens and existing businesses and industries. He also wants to do what he can as a City Councilman to make sure Asheboro is attractive to new businesses coming to town that will provide our citizens an above average wage.
His favorite thing about Asheboro is the warm, friendly, positive attitude found in the vast majority of Asheboro residents. He enjoys the cultural, recreational and social opportunities that can be found Asheboro, and likes the fact that Asheboro is centrally located in North Carolina with an excellent network of roads that can take you to other parts of the state and back home again to Asheboro.
Swiers’ hope for Asheboro is for it to grow and prosper. “I want it to continue to be a city that we all can take pride in and one that we can say without hesitation ‘Asheboro, exactly where I want to be!’”
