The Asheboro Police Department currently has one police canine assigned to various units throughout the department.  The canine has a dual purpose and is trained in patrol work and narcotics detection.

Department canines are certified through national certifying bodies. The department requires that our canine team complete 16 hours of in-service training each month and a yearly certification through an outside certifying body.  The canine team is utilized by the department to conduct evidence/article searches, narcotics sniffs, tracking/trailing of suspects or missing persons, building searches, area searches, and apprehension of suspects.

Asheboro Police Department's canine routinely provides canine demonstrations to educate the community about the capabilities of these dogs.  If you would like to schedule a canine demonstration feel free to contact Cpt. Mark Lineberry at (336) 626-1300, x303.
