Building Inspections
The Building Inspection Department issues permits that are for building, electrical, plumbing, and heating/air conditioning. These permits are required to be obtained prior to the starting of the project. This is a requirement of the North Carolina State Building Code. The North Carolina State Building Code Council is in the process of incorporating the Southern Building Code with the North Carolina Code to make all the codes uniform within the southern section. Therefore, plans must be reviewed for compliance with the new code rulings. Our inspectors will be attending schools, conferences and meetings in order to learn the new changes.

Fire Inspections
The Fire Inspection Bureau issues permits for all fire protection equipment such as sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, hood suppression systems and standpipe systems. Also, operational permits are issued for tents and canopies, amusement buildings, carnivals and fairs, exhibits, trade shows, pyrotechnics, etc. As required by the NC State Fire Prevention Code, these permits are required before the start of the project.
