The primary functions of the Asheboro Police Department are the defense of the public, preservation of peace and order, the prevention and detection of crime, apprehension of offenders, the protection of persons and property, and the enforcement of the Laws of the State of North Carolina and the ordinances of the City of Asheboro. Today the public demands that officers have the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Samson and the integrity of a saint. They are expected to make life and death decisions in a matter of seconds while under all types of pressure and to be correct in them because these decisions will be leisurely studied by learned men of the courts for hours, weeks, months and even years.
