The Sanitation Department makes collections, including curbside recycling, in residential area twice a week. Business locales are made as needed but not more than one pick-up per day. Industries provide their own pick-up service. The County's transfer station is located on the edge of the city planning jurisdiction and serves as the city's waste disposal area. To better serve the citizens the Sanitation Department has automated equipment, which provides for a more efficient sanitation collection system.

2010-2011 Sanitation Schedule
During the 2010-2011 fiscal year, which runs from July 1, 2010 until June 30, 2011, sanitation collection will only be interrupted for one holiday. There will be no sanitation service on Thursday, November 25 (Thanksgiving Day). customers who would typically receive service on this day will instead receive service on Wednesday, November 24.
Recycling Drop Sites
The City of Asheboro operates recycling drop sites on West Wainman Avenue between Fayetteville and Church streets and on Yzex Street next to Fire Station 2.
