Mayor Pro Tempore Talmadge Baker has served on City Council for 18 years, serving on a wide range of committees. He has served as the Director of the I-73/74 Corridor Association for 18 years. His community involvements are vast, including serving on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, many activities with the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce and a wide range of fund-raising campaigns.
“I love so many things about Asheboro,” said Baker. “Some of my favorites are the people, the beautiful landscape, the climate, its proximity to major cities, its arts and crafts, the development of the downtown area and the many opportunities available to serve the community.”
Baker became a member of City Council in order to serve the citizens of Asheboro. He enjoys working with the council team. He hopes to see Asheboro continue to grow and become a destination city.
